WOW!!! An awesome YA novel that doesn't involve vampires, werewolves, or the supernatural! It was really refreshing to read about a regular teen girl with a crush on a regular teen boy, and it all takes place in Paris. Not a futuristic or Steampunk Paris, just fabulous Paris as we know it currently. The main character Anna is fantastic, sure she's crushing on a boy, but she's not brain dead. Anna has a personality and interests beyond the boy, that makes her a really positive and well developed character. Overall the book was utterly charming and really funny (I laughed out loud by myself in public while reading).
There was a time, about 20 years ago, when we went through a Celia Grant period. You, know, John Sherwood's widow cum horticulturist cum mystery solver, with the hunky side kick. Celia of the cupid's bow lips...anyhow, we read almost all the mysteries, lapping up the horticultural references. This was one we read and owned, and eventually BookCrossed.
